Here is a video of Parklands Rock Band Performing, I interviewed the teacher, Mr. Wilsher, and this is what he said:
Mr Penketh and I are leading the rock band. It has 30 students, which are split into 1 Year 9 group and 1 Year 8 group. The Year 9 group have started working on Valerie by Amy Winehouse and the Year 8 group has started working on Viva la Viva by Coldplay but have moved onto I Need A Dollar by Aloe Blacc. Most of the students are only playing their instrument for the first time but they have 3 days to learn the instrument/ their part, so that they can perform on friday as part of the festival. We even have boys singing and it's loads and loads of noise and loads of chaos but at the end it will all sound really good. This will challenge the students because of the skills they need to learn and play the instruments like the guitar and learning the different chords, or the drumkit, for example, or the bass. We're taking students out of their comfort zone, but they are rising to the challenge. |
I also interviewed one of the students in the rock band and this is what he said:
'There will be more than a few problems that we will have to face, some of these are being really nervous of performing, arguments between the team about who's doing what. We can overcome these challenges by just getting out there to perform, talking about sharing the instruments and just working as a team in general.'
